| Padrone of "lo squero" (gondola construction
yard), Roberto Dei Rossi has been building gondolas and other venetian
boats all his life. He started with his uncle Constantin at San Travaso.
He owns the busiest and most well known and respected gondola yard in
Venice. Gondola Servizio owns 3 of his gondolas. Roberto lives on the
island of Burano and commutes by boat to his shop on the Giudecca island
of Venice. Working with Roberto are Marco, Mauro, Giorgio, Andrea and
Claudio. Roberto made it all happen for us at Gondola Servizio: constructing
a gondola (Theresa); helping us find other gondolas; helping us ship
them to the USA. His friendship is the best part of owning a gondola. |
